Honoring 50 Years of the National Assocation of Women Business Owners

𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀ⵑ Early this week, I returned from DC for the National Association of Women Business Owners’ Advocacy Day and Women’s Business Conference, celebrating 50 years for this amazing group.

When women business owners come together to 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, the impact is inspiring. We had crucial conversations with elected officials on this agenda:

🔑 equal opportunity for necessary capital,

🔑 security frameworks for broader AI adoption,

🔑 workforce development,

🔑 strengthening @sbagov,

🔑 encouraging a business-friendly tariff structure,

🔑 supporting microbusinesses and

🔑 investing in alternative energy sources.

𝗜’𝗺 𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟰 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀.

I leaned into work-life integration, enjoying the hotel’s ice cream social and dining with my Kappa Alpha Theta sisters, Elizabeth Reilly and Jen Iwanicki, but that wasn’t where the fun ended. Although it’s always a joy reconnecting with my NAWBO sisters, I was blown away by the incredible speakers, like Janine Garner, Ashley Judd, Cynt Marshall, Kristine Lilly and the amazing women who’ve served as National President.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the National Association of Women Business Owners (or NAWBO) propels women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide by:

🤝 Strengthening the wealth-creating capacity of members and promoting economic development within the entrepreneurial community

🤝 Creating innovative and effective change in the business culture

🤝 Building strategic alliances, coalitions and affiliations

🤝 Transforming public policy and influencing opinion makers

Meanwhile, I’m so energized by how my fellow chapter members of the Greater Raleigh chapter for the National Association of Women Business Owners showed up... The chapter earned Chapter of Excellence recognition, Terry Dunn won Gillian Rudd Advocacy Award, and Karen Albright was amongst the 10 finalists for Woman Business Owner of the Year. Can’t wait to see what’s ahead for us all!
