Happy Birthday to Me... This is 45

Yesterday was my birthday, and I turned 45 years young… I’m so very grateful for everyone who called, texted, sent a direct message, delivered goodies or posted birthday wishes to my social media channels. As a firm believer in continued learning, I’ve picked up a few lessons along the way, looking forward to the many more lessons to come. Here is where I am at 45:

1. Lofty squad goals are imperative for thriving and flourishing. Surround yourself with those who deeply appreciate who you really are, push you to level up when needed, provide a supportive sounding board and help you laugh until you cry.

2. Always remember Margaret Mead’s words, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

3. Life is better with bright and happy sunflowers that can’t help but put a smile on everyone’s faces!

4. Productivity goes well beyond just getting more done; instead, it’s about efficiently working to effectively achieve desired results for all life elements. Considering this more holistic definition, productivity is not “one size fits all”; thus, successful and maintainable productivity depends on creating solutions personalized to your unique needs.

5. Tim McGraw is correct that music can change or save a life, especially with the lyrics and beat of music he chooses to record. It’s why I live life in music lyrics and find a dance party can put me in the perfect mood for whatever challenges arise.

6. The rollercoaster ride of putting “fanatic” in being a sports fan can be so rewarding, even amidst the frustrations of cheering on my favorite teams in football, futbol, basketball and more.

7. Emily Coxhead was brilliant saying “Remember to check in on your strong friend, your busy friend, your happy friend or your ‘seems to hand everything really well’ friend.” Everyone has struggles, and none of us knows what others face until we ask.

8. Why we don’t still have (the Brenda years on) Beverly Hills 90210, Scandal, Suits and Younger is beyond comprehension.

9. As citizens of the world, it is our responsibility to help prepare the next generation to be contributing members of society, adopting Angela Davis’ stance of “I’m no longer accepting things I cannot change. I’m changing things I cannot accept.”
