First Friday Female Founder Feature: Lisa Hansen

Back in mid-2022, Lisa Hansen sent me a DM about how my content was resonating with her, and I took notice… Shortly thereafter, she reached out to me about being a speaker for her Thriving Women’s Conference, and it didn’t take me long to realize that her events are unlike any others out there. Lisa’s speakers are fully engaged with each step of the event because Lisa truly cares about her attendees’ success and grasps the impact on that success from every detail throughout the event. It makes perfect sense that Lisa is a Virgo (my birthday twin!) and shares my love of sports, music and bright colors. Lisa brings such a positive and contagious energy to each interaction, but it is her clarity of purpose and ability to focus in on that purpose which fuels her fulfillment. Whether in conferences, at networking events, via Flourish Coworking or when socializing, Lisa uplifts those around her while prioritizing what she knows are her own personal needs, which is great. Enjoy this peek inside the mind and heart of this absolute rock star!

First Friday Female Founder Feature:

Lisa Hansen

How would you describe the company you founded and its products?

I'm a confidence expert breaking down the lies female founders and corporate leaders have been taught their whole careers so they get the life and results they want. My clients replace stress with success, frustration with fulfillment, and comparison with joy because they learn confidence is a skill, and I teach them exactly how to build it. Whether I'm speaking at a women's event or corporate training, teaching inside my exclusive UNSTOPPABLE Mastermind or hosting my annual Thriving Women's Conference in Raleigh, what I live and teach gives powerful women the clarity, confidence and compelling results they actually want without the crap that is holding you back. Easy, Fun, and WOW does it work!

Why did you start your company?

I had to! EVERYTHING changed in my life and business in 2018. In my first company, I looked perfect on the outside but felt frustrated, stressed and unsuccessful (you know the feelings). I was white-knuckling business and life. I realized I was meeting my goals but not my needs. This line in the sand is when I finally understood who I was, my real why, and learned what made me different made me strong, not wrong. I began to develop my skill of confidence and had immediate results personally and professionally. My business expanding, I was happy, and life was actually easier because I trusted myself instead of doubting.

I saw the powerful women around me struggling where I once was and knew I had the answers to stop their stress and get them results so I created Thriving Women’s Conference. Coaching and more speaking followed, and, now, hundreds of women are confidently thriving, too!

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey in founding this company?

The results, hands down. What I teach works, and my clients gain knowledge, confidence and skills that get them the compelling results they want both immediately and for the rest of their lives. They ask me how they can give testimonials because they are so grateful.

About what are you most proud?

Honestly, that I didn’t give up. Pursuing, pivoting and building a business and life you love that is true to who you are requires effort, and there were times I wanted to quit. It would have been the easy way out, but I also know it’s not who I am and it’s not what I actually needed. My husband jokes (but is 100% right) that, if I quit, I would just start a different business.

Are you naturally organized, was it a skill you learned or is it something with which you regularly struggle, and what tips or tools do you use to stay your most organized?

OH, NO! I am not naturally really organized. A tip I do is it to set a 5-minute timer and start. Starting can be the hardest, but, once I start, I always keep going on the task beyond the five minutes.

What words of wisdom would you have for someone who is overwhelmed with staying organized and / or productive?

My words of wisdom for someone that is overwhelmed but wants to be productive is, first, get clear on what you want. What are you trying to do or be? Then, trust yourself and your ability to achieve your goal. Confidently say no to things that are not right for you and yes to what is. You will be surprised that, when you have true clarity and confidence, you will achieve with ease and with unexpected speed.

Do you use technology to help stay productive or organized? If so, what’s your favorite program, app or tech tool?

I love my paper and colored markers, but I almost exclusively use digital calendars now.

How do you feel about work / life efficiency or integration in your life, including any tips or challenges for managing the personal and professional commitments in your life?

This one is HUGE for me and something I tell every mother – do one at a time! When you are in mom mode, be there 100%. Then, when you are in work mode, be there 100%. Integration doesn’t mean juggling. I know how to juggle oranges, but I don’t want my life to feel like a juggling act. If you are trying to do multiple roles at the exact same time, you will feel frustrated that neither is being done the way you want them. Prioritize and commit.

BONUS TIP – Never compare. Your style, life, priorities and schedule will look differently. It is supposed to be different because it is what is personally right for you. Own that and be unashamed.

About what causes are you most passionate?

I am most passionate about women knowing and loving themselves and their lives. We are so capable and life can feel so good! But, since we have already talked about that, I also love sports. I love skill- based competition shows because people are working for their dreams. I also love dancing (I am always dancing), and I love beautiful pastries.

What have you found to be the most effective way to relax after a long day or super long week?

The beach will forever be my happy place! If we are home, I am playing a game with my boys, in my garden, dancing or laughing over the day’s adventure with my husband. A snack is always involved.

What is your favorite author / book?

Tough one - I love a good business book (Finish, Atomic Habits, Start with Why), I am currently listening to The Anxious Generation, but The Boys in the Boat is probably my recent fave.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

– Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles” (New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 1992), 190–191.

What is your go-to accessory?

A Pepsi and sunglasses.

What are the fundamentals of your beauty routine?

I have to laugh at this one - I definitely don’t have a beauty routine. A friend bought me a face wash I like. I do LOVE Tula moisturizer - I found it through Fab Fit Fun.

What is your favorite food?

Chips & Salsa

What movie could you watch on endless loop?

The Holiday or Ten Things I Hate About You or Glass Onion

What is your favorite place that you have visited?

Tough one again – I have traveled all over the world. We took our family to Greece for my 40th birthday, and Crete was absolutely magical. It changed me. Vietnam, Turkey and Norway are also favorites!

Of the locally-owned and -operated establishments in the place you currently live, which are your top favorites and why?

Sassool & Reverie Hair Co are two of my favorites. Try them, and you will be converted, too!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I want the power to make people see themselves for all their greatness! How cool would that be?!?

What advice would you give your 21-year old self?

“Keep Going, Trust Yourself, and Enjoy It! You know what you want and you know what you are capable of. I am so proud and grateful for you. Adventures and hard things are coming - answer the call! You will grow through it, and you are going to love your life more than you know!”

If you could have lunch with anyone (living or deceased), who would it be and why?

God. What a lunch that would be! Joyful laughter and the deepest insights and truth available.
